Though I have yet to try them, the materials list and directions (written plus photos) seem quite clear with wonderful examples. Great interviews too with a number of inspiring artists. Ultimately this book is inspiring me to try some new techniques, which is more than worth the price of admission.

By Kevin Lintner I like to spend a l;ot of my time poking fun at the whole corporate environment and the people who seem to surrender their happiness just to be a part in the business machine, but i could never do it as dryly and hysterically as W Blower has done in "A Pocket Guide To Corporate Survival." The book is filled with tongue in cheek advice on how to get ahead in your company like don't actually do anything just hang out with different departments and get your picture in the company newsletter as much as possible. I had many literal laugh out loud moments reading this book and I am confident you will too.

I suspect the author is from a generation of business professional who began his career long before modern business fads like Vision and Mission Statements crept into the workplace. It's a story which reveals the deceit. hypocrisy and self seeking careerism behind the HR spin.

Great insight and advice with a touch of humor By Amazon Shopper I recently started out in the corporate field and see myself remaining there for some time. It has its ups and downs like anything else. When I came across this book I decided to give it a shot. Ended up loving it! I loved the approach the author took, it's genuinely humorous yet provides valuable insight and advice. Stories drawn from actual experiences add a very personal and relatable touch. The contrast between the corporation's goals and lives of employees is quite stark and was definitely interesting to read about. But the good thing is that this book provides real tips on surviving and striving for success in a touch corporate world. Definitely recommend this book, you won't regret reading it.

Great information By Manchester The material provides some great information for anyone contemplating a job or career change and a way to evaluate their current job and future potential. I found the book to supply some great advice for budgeting and creating a financial backup plan. The writing style is very straight forward - definitely a no filler, no fluff kind of book which is great for people who are really busy all the time and don't have much time do a lot of research. I admire the book because of this, the author has done all the hard work of researching great info and providing it in an easy to understand manner, making even the most complex situations and terms easy to understand. I highly recommend it for anyone contemplating a career change, the book offers a very insightful and revealing perspective which can be applied to any reader's life.

Ditch the dead end job By Kitty Smith Four years ago I was stuck in a dead end, high stress job that had me on blood pressure medication and ready to climb to the rooftop and start shooting people. At the time I really believed I didn't have a valid reason for leaving a decent paying job with health benefits. If only I'd had this book back then. I could have saved myself at least a year's worth of misery simply by being able to recognize valid reasons for quitting and understanding how not only make a graceful exit but how to hit the ground running once I walked out the door.T.K. Lee outlines the various reasons for quitting and how to really evaluate them in order to know if it's time to hand in a resignation or if you just need to suck it up and deal. Things like low pay or lack of enjoyment can wear you down to the point you'd rather eat glass and gargle salt water than show up one more day, and if you've reached that point Lee helps you understand your options and how to figure out if you just need a break or if you need a complete change of scenery. And, if a total change is required, how to set goals and put them in motion.If you feel like you're stuck in a career rut and wondering if the grass is greener on the other side of the building complex, this book can really assist you in determining what your next move needs to be. Everything is easy to understand and, if you're ready to take the plunge, simple to put into motion.

A Friendly Approach to a Difficult Problem By Piaras When I read this book it was like sitting down with a trusted friend who was sharing something honest and meaningful. That's the feeling I got when I read this helpful and perceptive guide. There wasn't anything explosive or mind shattering about the information given but I felt the author was honest in his approach.When you take all the fluff and hype away from the `how to' books, this one falls into the category of just plain honesty. This is rare in my experience as I've purchased many of these types of books over the years.For people contemplating quitting their `dead end' jobs I would highly recommend you read this first! This is probably one of the most honest books I've read in a long time. It's well worth the read.

Beam Piper's work into the public domain publishers like Aegypan Press have finally begun to bring Piper's work back into print and for that fans of Piper owe them a debt of gratitude. This short novel is an interesting introduction to Piper's Paratime series. It concerns an alternate world where people believe in reincarnation. The discovery that a "discarnate" individual has control over the time and place of his reincarnation leads to political turmoil, putting an undercover Paratime researcher in jeopardy. The hero of Piper's Paratime series, Paratime Policeman Verkan Vall, must step in to save the imperiled researcher--who just happens to be his ex-wife! The action is non-stop as hired assassins on all sides battle it out, fearless in their confidence that they will be reincarnated.Other recommend works in Piper's Paratime series are the short novel Time Crime, the collection Paratime edited by John F. Carr, Piper's only full-length Paratime novel Lord Kalvan of Otherwhen, and its authorized sequels Great Kings' War, Kalvan Kingmaker, and Siege of Tarr-Hostigos by Carr and Roland Green.

Exciting and yet philosophically interesting By The Reviewer Formerly Known as Kurt Johnson Hadron Dalla, once (and future!) wife of Verkan Vall, has gone to the Akor-Neb alternate reality sector to study their breakthroughs in studying reincarnation. However, with her superior knowledge of medicines and hypnosis from other sectors of the multiverse, she has produced a colossal breakthrough. Cause for celebration, no? No. Dalla has now completely thrown the Akor-Neb view of reality out the airlock, and civil war is right around the corner. Now, it is up to Vall to rescue Dalla and keep the Paratime secret safe.This story was first published in Astounding Science Fiction (Vol. XLV, No. 6), in August of 1950. Like all of H. Beam Piper’s (1904-64) Paratime stories, it is exciting and filled with adventure, and yet is philosophically interesting with Piper’s trademark self-reliant man. Also, as always, the author was an expert at creating fascinating milieus that give the story so much interest. Overall, I found this to be a great story, one that is sure to please any fan of great science-fiction.

Beam Piper, was originally published in the August 1950 issue of Astounding Science Fiction. It is the third story in Piper's Paratime series, and the second to feature the adventures of Verkan Vall, special agent for the Paratime Police, who was introduced in the 1948 novella Police Operation. (The first story to take place in the Paratime universe, He Walked Around the Horses, is more of a prologue. It barely relates to the Vall stories.)In this installment, Vall travels to the Akor-Neb Sector, an alternate timeline of Earth's future, to rescue a psycho-science researcher who happens to be his ex-wife. On the Akor-Neb world, reincarnation is a proven fact. They don't even have a word for "death," but rather refer to the end of a life as "discarnation." Views differ as to the mechanics of this phenomenon, however, and from two opposing views have sprung two opposing political parties. The statisticalists believe that reincarnation occurs at random. They favor a socialistic society, so that each new incarnation gets a fair chance in the world. The volitionalists believe that individual identity lives outside the body, and consciously chooses the newborn vehicle for its next incarnation. They push for a feudalistic society where the strongest individuals will be rewarded for their ability to reincarnate upwards through the social strata. When the scientist's research begins to tip the scales in favor of the latter party, she draws the ire of the statisticalists and becomes a target for assassination.Like Police Operation, Last Enemy is essentially a police procedural in which the cops have the ability to travel to alternate realities. Each new story gives Piper the opportunity to create a whole new civilization, a task at which he is extremely gifted. The Akor-Neb Sector is not just a future Earth with rayguns and airboats. It is a rich and complex universe that Piper endows with intricate cultural, philosophical, political, legal, linguistic, and religious details. He uses this parallel world to make statements about our own. On one page he may be criticizing socialism while on the next he's giving a Malthusian argument for population reduction. I don't always agree with Piper's politics, but I love the creatively ingenious way in which he expresses them. Despite being published over 60 years ago, his ideas are still fresh and thought-provoking. The only thing that dates this story is the way he depicts women with an antiquated chauvinism that is more kitschy than offensive.The world that Piper has created here may be eminently fascinating, but the story that takes place within it has its weak points. The book suffers a major distraction around its mid-point with an extended scene involving the fighting of duels. Though Piper renders the action sequence quite well, the scene really serves no purpose other than to inject some gratuitous violence into the proceedings. Besides being a sci-fi visionary Piper was also a gun enthusiast, and despite all the deep theoretical thinking that goes on in this story, ultimately it all comes down to ballistics. Piper never lets you forget that this is a cop thriller, after all.Piper may well be the best time travel writer since H. G. Wells, and the Paratime universe is a fantastic creation. This series is screaming for a television or comic book adaptation to explore its myriad possibilities. Last Enemy is not as good as Police Operation, but I still can't wait to find out where and when Verkan Vall is headed next.

By InfoHound Got this the other day when it was free, good thing to or I’d be wanting my money back.Better information more clearly presented by Amazon, this is just a step by step jumble of pointless ramblings by someone not native to the English language.Reads like low quality PLR material, not worth the time or effort to bother with, Amazon should likely remove this and possibly ban the author for trying to sell PLR garbage on Kindle!!Author on the cover and Author on the listing are 2 different people; guess he can’t remember who he’s supposed to be for this bit of money grab.I did try to read it, repeatedly and each time found nothing but garbage, poorly done, I can only assume the rave reviews were purchased and written by people who had never actually opened the book. I was hoping this would actually be useful or intelligent or sensible, or useful. If it were a print edition I could at least use it to level a table, start a fire, landfill in the back yard.The author may be a publisher, but he sure is no writer, we had to writer better than this in grade five or the teacher made us do it over again.Utter waste of time and money if you got suckered into paying for this, get a refund and buy a coffee, it will do you more good than this ‘book’ ever will.

It's recommendations are vague and general, offering no real guidance for actually building an affiliate website that can actually generate money. And the author apparently has never heard of Wordpress. He has an entire chapter on creating a website, where his advice is basically to teach your self HTML and then build a site from scratch! As for the Amazon part, he just tells you to get an Amazon affiliate account and add then products to your website. Finally, the author is clearly not a native English speaker and the text is barely readable. This was easily one of the worst books on Internet marketing, or any other subject, that I have ever read.

I believe $9.99 is a good investment because the author gets straight to the point and specifically tells you what you need to do to generate profit for your business or organization. Mr. Kinlow's years of training, experience, and insight are invaluable for anybody wanting to come up in the business world. All of his experience and wisdom is nicely condensed into this book of simplistically explained "laws."

By Cathy Hallihan, Nework Marketing and Fitness Professional, Writer, Presenter & Public Speaker Rather than be a statistic as another failed entrepreneur save yourself the heart/headache by investing a small amount of time in reading Michael Kinlow's "The Laws of Profit". My personal favorite that I have found true in my own personal businesses is setting profit targets and not sales targets. I love his use of Profit Deficit Disorder as without proper focus on the goal of profit, increased sales can lead to loss. This is a must read for the entrepreneur or the entrepreneur-to-be.

Take Control of Your Profit Now By Thomas Brooks “The Laws of Profit” is a book that does a great job of helping small businesses create and maintain their profitability by applying proven principles (63 very useful laws) and tactics to their enterprise. And these principles can be used inside of large corporations as well. The book will help you focus on the sources and uses of cash, and also on customer relationships. In summary, this excellent book will help you to continuously think about and act upon key principles to manage for profit.

Manatees is a brand new subject matter for Justice. He loves Dolphins, and identified right away with the manatee. He colored the pictures and enjoyed learning about this mammal. The sight word activity was nice, but he really enjoyed writing his name in cursive over and over again. The public schools in Mississippi don't teach cursive writing anymore, so we appreciated this activity. Another thing. The book kept his attention from beginning to end. He finished reading, coloring, and the activities in one setting. He put his book in his book bag so he can take it to school to show his teacher. It was important to him because he and JaNiya are the same age.Justice and Shantae

Peter Lawrence uses an interdisciplinary approach, involving discourse theory, international relations theory, and philosophical concepts of ethics and justice to inform discussion of international law. Recent political science theories are used to show why the current global climate change treaties are so weak in addressing intergenerational justice concerns. The book draws on contemporary theories of justice to develop a number of principles used to critique the existing global climate change treaties. These principles are also used as a blueprint for suggestions on how to develop a much-needed global treaty on climate change. The approach is pragmatic in that the justice-ethics argument rests on widely shared values. Moreover, the book is informed by the author's extensive experience in the negotiation of global environmental treaties as an Australian diplomat.

With its interdisciplinary approach and focus on intergenerational justice, this detailed study will be of particular interest to academics and policymakers in international environmental law and climate law, as well as to those in international law with an interest in ethics and justice issues.

Obviously there is no simple answer. Nonetheless author Peter Lawrence, a senior law lecturer based in Tasmania, has taken this question on board – together with all or most of the resulting legal issues. His thought provoking treatise, published by Edward Elgar, discusses and examines the threat of climate change and the ethical obligations that we might conceivably owe to future generations in addressing this threat.Lawrence’s interdisciplinary approach to this issue involves discourse theory, international relations theory and concepts of ethics and justice. His basic argument is that, in his words, ‘climate change raises acute issues of justice between generations’ largely because ‘future generations who did not create the problem.’The overarching question that informs this book centres on what justice requires of the current generation to safeguard the environmental welfare of future generations -- and also how such obligations should be reflected in international law. Environmental lawyers especially, will find this book useful in assisting them in supporting (or countering) arguments that, for example, inform certain assumptions which the author shares with most environmentalists; one being that climate change is anthropogenic, i.e. caused by human activities that have been shown to be harmful to the environment.The book covers these and related topics quite comprehensively. Following the introduction on the problem of climate change and solutions, the book is divided logically into three parts, with Part I focusing on justice and ethics in the context of climate change and the content of justice-based obligations. By susan a mulder ‘How to’ art books are not high on my list of favs but when I saw this one I thought I would take a chance on it. I have my MFA in painting though never explored watercolor as a viable medium for my work. I have always thought it might be fun to try my hand at it and decided to try and find a book to get my feet wet, per se. In looking for something that would give me ideas without the step by step, happy cloud approach I stumbled on this sweet book-and in all truth, it was the cover of Just add Watercolor that convinced me to give it a second look.Author Helen Birch, who teaches courses in art and design, fine art, and illustration at Bradford College, UK, did a great job assembling a diverse compilation of artists and their work. The variety of techniques and the multiple approaches to surface, concept and execution makes this a great book for finding inspiration without the rote step 1, step 2, step 3 and voila you have made just what you saw in the book. This little guy opens doors to exploring and expanding ones painting vocabulary so that you can take this inspiration to your own work.I love the little tips that have been highlighted throughout the book that help to explain certain techniques or applications. I also appreciate that Birch has included various water media-not just good old fashioned watercolors! While there is some direction for the basic how to get started, the best part is that it is open ended and you can explore and play away to develop your own voice. The smaller size of this book is perfect for keeping on hand without cluttering up my table and (bonus!!) it looks great sitting on an end table or to top off a stack of boring books with a little color!This is a great addition to any artists library-or anyone who wants to try something new!

By Holly Cromer I picked up Just Add Watercolor: Inspiration and Painting Techniques from Contemporary Artists in hopes of learning some new painting tricks, added bonus – I already had watercolors, brushes, and paper on hand so I was ready to roll as soon as the book arrived. The layout of the entire book is a photo on the right side of the page of the spread with a description of the technique used and some tips on the left side. The descriptions don’t go into extreme detail and I was hoping that the information might be in another part of the book (it wasn’t), but I’ve found that it at least gave me the correct name for the process so I could go do a little extra digging on my own. I would love to see beginner level photography books laid out in this same fashion where you can easily find out what the name is for the effect you want to achieve, it would have been very helpful to me when I picked up my first SLR forever and a year ago.This book is VERY image heavy which I love. Even if you end up reading through it and not wanting to try out the techniques for yourself, you can tear out your favorite images and frame them… No, I don’t usually rip up books, but the images are full bleed to the edge of the 5x7 inch pages which makes it very, very tempting and I can’t promise that one day I will not rip a gorgeous watercolor or two out, frame it, and hang it up on my wall. This book is a great resource for watercolor beginners and visual learners, I’d give it 5 stars despite the fact that I thought a few things could have been covered a little bit more in depth. I’d also like to include that it was so good and such an easy read that I devoured the entire book in one day which is VERY rare for me.

Lovely little handbook of inspiration By eula "A beautifully illustrated, easy-to-navigate guide to creating contemporary watercolors, pairing full-page paintings with insights and tips for artists."As a visually-oriented person with a very short attention span, Just Add Watercolor by Helen Birch was a joy to read. This pocketable little gem uses modern works of art to illustrate painting techniques and tools. Each spread features the painting on one side and a brief write-up on the other. It's like having a little gallery in your hands! The book is divided into four sections based on the medium used: traditional watercolor, gouache, digital, and other water-based media. Below are my favorite in each field.The book design itself is very appealing, with clean pages and each highly practical tip highlighted by wash of watercolor. The book's 5 x 7-inch size makes it very travel-friendly, indeed it's quite close to the size of many travel sketchbooks. There's also a very handy "visual index" that serves as a table of contents of sorts, with cropped thumbnails of the paintings for easy reference.This book for the established watercolor enthusiast, one who is already familiar with basic watercolor techniques and washes. It doesn't supply formal instruction on watercolor, but instead provides wonderful inspiration to practice various techniques, in a "learn by doing" kind of approach. The different styles of painting giving much insight into what you can achieve.* I received this book from the Blogging for Books program for review.
