0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. An extensive compilation of British aerodynamics circa 1919. By Bob Rouse This is a massive (560 pages) treatment of British wind tunnel research and aircraft test studies conducted during the great war. It's a bit too heavy in mathematics for my taste, but the wealth of empirical test data more than makes up for it. It was published before the German approach to aerodynamics became available, so this is the Allied knowledge base for design. This book enabled me to finally understand the aerodynamic behavior of biplanes and triplanes -- to the extent that I can design either one from scratch, or analyze an existing aircraft. My copy of this book is now well worn as I refer to it often. The reproduction quality could certainly be better. The entire copy seems to be over-exposed. The half-toned photographs it contained were all burned out or blurred and the images are illegible. Some of the graph data is lost the same way. I would prefer to have some background shadow and thereby retain the photos and data. But the majority of the book's information is legible enough. This has become one of my most used books and I'm glad the copy was made available. The price was reasonable, given the small market for such. I'd certainly buy another if I lost this one - and if a better quality reproduction becomes available in the future, I will order it.
