More significant figurative works by worldwide artists By Grady Harp The quarterly journal celebrating the Fine Art of the Male Form continues its very admirable mission by bringing the works of six artists from around the world to the attention of the public who appreciates figurative art - focusing on the male form.Viktor Goryaev is from Ukraine and takes a classical look at the figure, both in drawing and painting, allowing his own respect for contemporary portraits to easily mix with his mythological imagery. Cody Ferguson is an Oklahoma artist whose work graces the cover of this issue and inside shares his very realistic portraits of young men at rest and at play. Lin Jun Liang is from Taiwan and in addition to his highly skilled figurative works he explores the play of color in an almost modernist fashion. Rebecca Ivatts has exhibited her very strong paintings in Madrid, Northern Spain, Athens and Ireland, and the paintings selected here demonstrate her power at grasping massive subject matter on a grand scale. Maciej Kempinski is from Poland - his works are near impressionist in nature with gentle soft palette and a remarkable variation in styles - from classical compositions to dreamlike states. Eric Daumont is from Paris and manages to make his depictions of figures hold a sense of comedy and parody while offering visual proof of his incredible observational skills.The issue includes, as always, an historical reference against which the presented art can be compared - this article features the American painter John Singer Sargent.
