I found the book to through and detailed, starting with the basics to more advanced investment information. The author clearly laid out the concepts in an easy to follow manner.I was especially interested in learning how safe fixed annuities are, which was covered in detail by the author. Types of annuities were presented, as well real-life examples of investors he has worked with to illustrate the concept. I recommend this as a thorough resource on investing with annuities.

Perfect for someone like me who avoids financial knowledge even though having an advanced understanding of this subject is a necessity for successful living. I found myself taking notes; this is a positive sign that the information was interesting, easy-to-read, easy-to-understand and easy-to-apply. I would re name the book Everything You Need to Know about Annuity because the book was detailed and written for someone who doesn't know very much about this subject as well as someone knows a lot but needs a desk reference. The book covers the basics and includes advance information. The advance information was easy to understand because the basic foundation information had been presented. I loved the definition section best. The definitions were easy to understand. I didn't feel overwhelmed or confused. The book is short but filled with useful information. I will definitely keep this as a reference. I recommend this book to all adults. All of us need to know and understand the information it explains.

This book should serve as a great reference for your retirement planning library. Mr. McLeod demonstrates a deep understanding of the subject and presents it extremely well. Highly recommended.

I was taught this method long ago by the author and have carried the advice laid out in this book with me and owe much if not all of my job search success to this book. The method is detailed and easy to follow and if stuck to, will yield the rewarding job you are looking for, no matter what the obstacles that your background may present. It teaches you how to set yourself apart from the stack of resumes and applications and makes you an actual person to the manager who is hiring instead of just a simple number or name. The method works, period.

Solve for the Customer is about Customer Science, a social science that focuses on front office business and provides a blueprint for businesses to build stronger relationships and improve business performance by zeroing in on what’s important to customers. Customer Science concentrates what we’ve learned from modern technologies like big data, analytics, social media, and advanced enterprise software platforms into a framework that enables businesses to identify moments of truth where they can reliably meet and satisfy their customers. Customer Science is a social science much like sociology. Like sociology, Customer Science uses data and analytics to develop and understand the social structures that embrace customers and satisfy their needs whether the needs arise in sales, marketing, or service. Prior to Customer Science, many vendors lacked a structured understanding of moments of truth, which caused missed opportunities and disappointed or frustrated customers. Customer Science operates on two levels. First, using big data and analytics, it helps vendors to identify their customers’ moments of truth. Then Customer Science guides vendors to quickly and accurately devise and implement automated and semi-automated systems that identify customers’ needs and help to satisfy them. Importantly, within Customer Science customer experience goes from a passive thing to an activity. As Denis Pombriant, who identified Customer Science, says, “We use Customer experience as a noun in CRM (i.e., the customer experience), and for a long time it has been a noun.” But once we begin to think in terms of customer-facing processes situated around a moment of truth, experience becomes a verb, says Pombriant, “You experience a moment of truth. That’s an important difference and one that significantly helps vendors and customers.” A traditional customer experience is subjective and when you consider the multitude of customers and the totality of their experiences, you are dealing with a big number. Because all experiences are subjective they are also unique — there are billions and billions of them. With so many unique experiences you can see that dealing with them, and trying to build software to accommodate them, is impossible. But assessing customers’ experiences of a moment-of-truth approach is a more manageable problem. True, the experience is still subjective and customers are still unique. But there’s a limited number of moments of truth in any business, which your customers will be glad to verify, and these moments of truth are linked in cascades with each step setting up the next until you reach a desired conclusion. Without Customer Science, too often these cascades can end abruptly and leave customers frustrated. Succeeding in a moment of truth and successfully navigating a cascade is Boolean — on or off, up or down, true or false, it worked or it didn’t. If it all works you have a happy customer; if the moment of truth doesn’t work and the cascade gets broken, you can pinpoint the problem and know exactly what to do to make it right. As a matter of fact, you can develop contingency plans in advance for all of the things that could go sideways. The modern software platform is the tool of Customer Scientists. Well-constructed platforms offer the needed technologies used to capture and analyze customer data and the social tools to communicate with customers. Most importantly, the software platform also provides the journey mapping, workflow, and code generating facilities to turn customer insights into running apps that support moments of truth. For decades CRM vendors have delivered point solutions to support front office business. Now through Customer Science we can bring all of the components together in a strategy that supports the customer lifecycle while efficiently and cost effectively positioning customer-facing resources to address customer needs.

Faced with intolerable congestion and noxious pollution, cities around the world are rethinking their reliance on automobiles. In the United States a loosely organized livability movement seeks to reduce car use by reconfiguring urban space into denser, transit-oriented, walkable forms, a development pattern also associated with smart growth and new urbanism. Through a detailed case study of San Francisco, Jason Henderson examines how this is not just a struggle over what type of transportation is best for the city, but a series of ideologically charged political fights over issues of street space, public policy, and social justice. Historically San Francisco has hosted many activist demonstrations over its streets, from the freeway revolts of the 1960s to the first Critical Mass bicycle rides decades later. Today the city’s planning and advocacy establishment is changing zoning laws to limit the number of parking spaces, encouraging new car-free housing near transit stations, and applying “transit first” policies, such as restricted bus lanes. Yet Henderson warns that the city’s accomplishments should not be romanticized. Despite significant gains by livability advocates, automobiles continue to dominate the streets, and the city’s financially strained bus system is slow and often unreliable. Both optimistic and cautionary, Henderson argues that ideology must be understood as part of the struggle for sustainable cities and that three competing points of view—progressive, neoliberal, and conservative—have come to dominate the contemporary discourse about urban mobility. Consistent with its iconic role as an incubator of environmental, labor, civil rights, and peace movements, San Francisco offers a compelling example of how the debate over sustainable urban transportation may unfold both in the United States and globally.

This is not only essential for people interested in SF transportation and government; it is relevant for anyone who lives in San Francisco and plans to live here for a long time. While Mr. Henderson's personal beliefs come through at various points, he stays fairly objective for the most part and presents three competing ideologies that explain why much of San Francisco, not just transportation, is the way it is today. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, and can only hope that the SF Supervisors will read it as well.

A must for all those interested in land use, transportation, and sustainability By erut04 This book is a must for anybody interested in land use, transportation, and sustainable cities in the United States. Those wishing to pursue a career in any of these related fields will greatly benefit from the research and accumulation of material Jason has put together on the political ideologies of transportation. After reading this book I feel like I can put in context many different points of view surrounding transportation and land use. The book is also a great read for anyone interested in San Francisco, MUNI, San Francisco politics, etc.

I'll mention three of its most salient virtues. First, it provides an exhaustive history of the city's recent transit and mobility history, which is something that no other author has accomplished. Second, it makes debates over transportation and mobility feel compelling by showing how they reflect different values or political worldviews. Finally, it provides a persuasive and nuanced critique of our culture's dependency on the automobile, and although Henderson focuses on San Francisco, his insights apply broadly. Okay, I'll also mention that this is a well-written, well-researched, and well-edited text. A novel and exciting work.
