Rather than supply the how-to advice commonly found in most be-your-own-boss books, Sullivan explores the motivational aspects of pursuing the entrepreneurial dream while also providing a wealth of business ideas. In the book’s first section, Sullivan offers such entries as “10 traits for entrepreneurial success,” “six benefits and six drawbacks” of being your own boss, and “14 keys to ignite your enthusiasm and passion.” Part 2 digs into the details of where an entrepreneur’s passion may lie. Obviously Ms.Sullivan has done a tremendous amount of research. This is the answer to so many questions about starting your own business. I recommend using the spread sheet to record your thoughts. Nothing like it out there. All you entrepreneurs must read this.

I was impressed with her work, and I really loved her overall concept of following your passion and creating a niche, so I ended up inviting her to be a guest on my radio program, Sunny in Seattle, to discuss the book. I'm so glad I did! As an attorney-turned-life, coach, I am often asked by my clients to help them find meaningful work and pursue their calling, and I think this book is a wonderful resource for those folks who think they are ready to take the plunge into entrepreneurship. Maya has done all the research so you don’t have to – from benefits and drawbacks in owning your own business, to ways to ignite your passion, to hundreds of potential areas of opportunity, she provides just about everything you will need to evaluate this decision. She also has a wealth of personal experience and wisdom to boot! And of course as a coach, I am thrilled that the book encourages the reader not just to follow where the logical mind takes you, but also to consider where the heart and gut are leading you, as well. In sum, a fantastic book for “wannapreneurs!”
