About the Author Cici Mattiuzzi has worked in the career planning field for 30+ years. Cici has motivated thousands of job seekers and career professionals at all levels, from new grads just entering the labor market to executives moving up the ladder. In addition to coaching and counseling individuals, she regularly teaches career planning courses, workshops and seminars. Ms. Mattiuzzi is a faculty member and the founding Director of Career Services in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS). She also worked as a counselor in the university Career Center and as an Employment Development Officer for the California Employment Development Department. She has a Bachelors in psychology and a Masters in Social Science, with an emphasis on manpower and labor market economics. For over a decade, job seekers have been empowered to achieve their career goals using books authored by Cici Mattiuzzi. In 2000, The Ultimate Career Planning Manual was published by the University bookstore, and in 2006, Kendall Hunt Publishing released The Ultimate Career Planning Manual for Engineers and Computer Scientists. In 2009 The Serious Job Seeker first appeared as an online job seeking resource and textbook and has received 250,000 page views from job seekers all over the world. Ms. Mattiuzzi has authored and edited the weekly CareerUpdates newsletter (with a circulation of 6000 engineering and computer science students and professionals) for 20 years. Her articles have appeared in the press and in professional publications. She has designed multiple software applications that have served to assist job seekers and to track employment trends. Ms. Mattiuzzi has supervised more than 40 teams of software engineers in developing, implementing and maintaining cutting edge career systems and services. Ms. Mattiuzzi has organized and delivered the annual Career Day event for the CSUS College of Engineering and Computer Science for the past thirty years. She has hosted campus recruiting visits by hundreds of local, regional, and national employers, and has toured many of their offices, plants and facilities. She consults with business, industry and government agencies on recruitment and talent acquisition, particularly in high demand and rapidly expanding fields.

Provides a step by step method of delving into your knowledge skills and ability and provides recommendations on how to market yourself. A great gift for job seekers or graduates.

The curriculum of the course was pretty much the material contained in these pages. The book covers everything you need to know about the approach of job seeking and provides examples to use as templates wherever possible. I'm a graduating senior in university and I got my first job in my field by following the advice of the author of this book. Job hunting is about more than just filling out application forms and sending out resumes.I'd recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a job, but especially for people like me who will be graduating from university soon or have recently graduated. If you think you don't need advice in getting a job then ask yourself what you're going to say when you're made a job offer and it's time for the salary negotiation. Are you gonna take the first offer that comes your way? What kinds of things are you gonna put on your resume if you don't have any work experience? All this stuff is in the book. Get it.

Her website is excellent, though. I work with college students and her book would benefit from some visual revamping. It would also help if she had an edition that was dedicated to the first time college student trying to figure his or her path in life.
