As always a thought provoking perspective By John Truscott Having spent 35 years in the ad agency business I am frustrated by the fact that we seem to be no closer to understanding how advertising works now than we were when I started. I had always thought that clever people with improving methods and resources would solve the problem. Bob's perspective, if true, suggests that may never be the case. And I'm more inclined to believe him than cling to the idea that we can find a replicable equation for successful advertising. Thanks for the provocative POV.

In a business crammed with gurus who vie for being the new neil armstrongs of advertising, bob hoffman undresses them all by simply acknowledging that he's got no answers, but a few thought-provoking questions.That's as good as it gets in this business. Nobody really knows anything. But only the best ones dare admit it and ask them.

Nyatsambo Bob has a wonderful way of getting you to stop, smell the roses and really think about the experience you just had. In this case, it's the way you sold your agency services to a client. Is rooted in authenticity? Are you truly thinking about the end consumer? No answers but great thought starters.
