About the Author Ron Dingee, DMD, MPH was born in Lynn, MA. After graduation from Lynn English High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he met his wife, Evelyn. He earned his doctor’s degree in dental medicine and a master’s degree in public health from the University of Pittsburgh with advanced studies at the University of London, School of Tropical Medicine. He practiced dentistry in Greensburg, PA for almost 25 years during which time he volunteered his skills in Latin America, Mexico, Haiti, Zaire, and Thailand as a medical missionary. In 1991, he and his wife, Evelyn, sold their home and the dental practice to go to Bangkok, Thailand to co-manage the Bangkok Christian Guest House for four years. After Bangkok, they managed the Redwood Glen Baptist Camp and Conference Center in CA for three years then moved to Nevada to work with the Shoshone-Paiute Indians before retiring. In retirement, Ron has written two other books: ("Missionary Memories" and "Nanna") and several magazine articles. Some lessons I had to learn the hard way, though I still found new insights from this book. The author gives readable, practical advice on a host of issues such as employment, dealing with financial issues, insurance, car and home buying, and retirement which face us all as we journey through life. I’ve recommended this book to my children, other family members, and friends.

By Chris This is a great primer for starting your independent life, good points us older folks might not have thought of, and a source of information to discuss some extremely important aspects of life with your partner or young adults you care about. I have enjoyed Ron's other books, also.

Mr. Dingee covers everything they need to know to enter into that big old world. If young people follow his financial advice, they will have a great retirement.
