5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. A Compelling Read By Sandra Grabman When I saw that this book had been released, I just had to have it. I know David R. Greenland is an excellent author and treats his subjects with the respect they deserve, and I've admired Michael Landon since his Joe Cartwright days. What I learned from this book compounded my admiration. Landon, in real life, was a genuine and principled man, an artist who brought us quality entertainment. I now know that he was not only a fine actor, but also just as talented at directing, writing, and producing. He packed a lot of living into his short life and accomplished amazing things. Thank you, author Greenland, for this fine study of Landon's career.

I so loved reading it, as I am a huge fan of Michael Landon having grown up watching him as my TV dad on Little House on the Prairie! I loved seeing the other side of what he did other than acting. Quick, easy read.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A superb package By David W. Menefee The author has compiled an admirable retrospective of Landon's career. This is not a book about his private life, which the author readily admits, but the wealth of back stories about Michael Landon as they apply to his career achievements nearly refute that claim. One of the most scrutinized television personalities during the 1950s-1970s, Landon quietly progressed from actor to writer and director. The author aptly researched his career, interviewed many people associated with Landon, and overfills the book with revealing quotes and rare photos and illustrations. Sources are well-documented, and he rounds out the book with a detailed Filmography, title Index, General Index, and Bibliography. This is a superb package by the publisher, well worth reading.
