It is gigantic (400 pp.) and jam-packed with fine reproductions of his paintings, as well as some paintings from his fellow Orientalists. At under fifty bucks, it's a tremendous bargain.Benjamin-Constant was one of J. C. Leyendecker's two most important instructors at Paris' Academie Julien (the other was Jean Paul Laurens) at the turn of the century. If you look at Benjamin-Constant's work you can see the profound influence he had on Lyendecker. Benjamin-Constant was also one of the first Orientalists, accompanying that genre's founding father, Mariano Fortuny, on his trips through the Middle East.I doubt if there will ever be a finer book on Benjamin-Constant. The author, Nathalie Bondil, The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the publisher, Editions Hazan, are to be commended.

As and artist with an interest in art history as well, I found the illustrations excellent and very worthwhile for closer study of this artist's work. An excellent addition to one's permanent collection.

He definitely brings interviews and tips each week to his show. This book is a great read for anyone who is new to podcasting, and is thinking about getting started. You'll find the case studies inspiring, especially the stories of people he's interviewed over the years. My favorite is the story of Gregory Ng, aka the Frozen Food Master. Very inspiring story of zeroing in on an untapped niche market and dominating it.

Not full of a lot of fluff, or bloviating. The book was a short read, but clear and easy understand. I love the ideas on using video to grow your business. Ken Boyd’s example is really good. I love doing those kind of video presentations.

An Uncluttered Approach to Starting an Online Business By Amazon Customer This book is very basic in its approach... but that doesn't make it unhelpful in the least. The truth is, you can do more with the basics than you can with advanced material unless you already have years of experience under your belt. This book will help you organize your thought process if you're caught in "what to do next" mode. It also contains some excellent examples of people who are making a good living by basically doing their own thing and having fun with it. There are so many books about marketing and making money online today that it's easy to get bogged down by endless details and options. This book will help you focus on the activities that really matter in the big picture. From there, your own personal experience and results will help you make the necessary adjustments with your audience.

A Timing Consideration When You Become Your Own Boss By NICOLE CLEMONS Since I too am just getting off the ground with my own small business, this book was exactly what I needed. Let's Do This by AJ Johnston, clearly lays out in which the order you should take rather than just jumping and risking it all. I think one of the most valuable things I found in this book was that it also acted as a workbook and I learn so much more effectively when I write things down. Not to mention, now I have my own inspiring words to look back on. I highly recommend this book to anyone either thinking about or just starting their own entrepreneur journey.

AJ Johnston uses her personal experience to paint a great picture of success. She exposes anxieties, hesitations, and talks about when it's simply time to take the plunge. There are great principles to take from this book, even if you're not an entrepreneur. Her budgeting outline is awesome and her instruction on efficiency is something you can take to your job, home life, and any area that requires planning. I'll be using the book to coach my staff.

About the Author Fashion historian Jeromine Savignon is the author of Cacharel Le Liberty (Assouline) and L'Esprit Vionnet (Universite de la Mode).Fashion historian Jeromine Savignon is the author of Cacharel Le Liberty (Assouline) and L'Esprit Vionnet (Universite de la Mode).Saint Laurent was born in Oran, Algeria. He left home at the age of 17 to work for designer, Christian Dior. He was put in charge of the effort of saving the Dior house from financial ruin after Christian Dior's death in 1957. He then served in the French army. After being hazed by fellow soldiers, he left after 20 days. He then suffered a nervous breakdown and was institutionalized. In 1962, he was released, and he and his partner, Pierre Berge started their own fashion house. He retired in 2002 and became reclusive. He died on June 1, 2008 from the effects of brain cancer.

About the Author Philip K. Dick (1928-1982) was an American science-fiction novelist, short-story writer and essayist. A contemporary of Ursula K. Le Guin, Dick's first short story, "Beyond Lies the Wub," was published shortly after his high-school graduation. Many of Dick's works drew upon his personal experiences with drug abuse, addressing topics such as paranoia and schizophrenia, transcendental experiences and alternate reality, and the childhood death of his twin sister is reflected through the recurring theme of the "phantom twin" in many of his novels. This short story is typical of his work, well-rendered as the movie "screamers". Note his building suspense once humanoid swords began to appear. Note the irony of robots killing other robots. Note the fatalism behind humans failing to stop the evolution of these monstrous machines. A.I. and robotics at their worst in a pre-Terminator universe.

The frightening premise of single minded robots whose only purpose is killing humans and cannot be reasoned with is truly terrifying. Add in the fact that they are infiltrating you in nefarious ways and you have the frightening prospect of the future of warfare. Also, this short has a fresh perspective on a dystopian future world, and it's brutally grim. Extremely well done. Highly recommended.

About the Author Scott Benjamin is a serial entrepreneur with a recurring passion for real estate. In 1991, he received his real estate salespersons license in Florida, but only earned $230 in commissions. Following a stint in the restaurant business working for Domino’s Pizza and Rudy’s Hamburgers, Scott created Signature Properties out of Baltimore, Maryland in 2001. Over a ten year period, Scott learned the real estate business from the ground up. Scott bought and sold over 100 houses, purchased numerous land development deals, invested in vacation properties, tax certificates and currently owns college rental properties and various commercial real estate holdings. Seeing the eminent crash of 2008 approaching, Scott pivoted careers and earned a PhD in Strategy at the age of 42 from the University of Maryland and is currently on the faculty at Florida Tech in Melbourne, Florida. In 2014, Scott began investing in real estate once again with an eye on capitalizing on the rising real estate market. In the past year, he has actively worked with college students who have flipped 7 houses, purchased a land development deal, and are pursuing a motel conversion project. He enjoys sharing his passion and knowledge for real estate with others through teaching and public speaking.

Readers get to see the ups and downs, the risks and the calculated guesses, and look directly into the math of how everything works out with buying and selling, 'flipping' homes, and making a fortune through real estate.If you're curious about the ins and outs of real estate, and what it could take for you to get into the game and make some money--either a little or a lot--I can't recommend this book enough. It's built for the average reader with a keen interest in the potential profit (personal, professional, and monetary!) they could find in real estate, and the author's awareness of the personal gains (family time, vacation allowances, etc.) alongside the risks makes this read all the more worthwhile.If you're interested in the subject, this is worth the time. Highly Recommend By Keven Lohr I’m not a millionaire real estate investor… yet; but Scott Benjamin’s book, Riding the Bubble, really did make it seem possible. This isn’t the Tommy Vu, bikini girls, boats and waterfalls type real estate investing book or ideology. This is the real deal. From a seemingly regular Joe who lived it and made it happen. The realism and underlying theme of “creating your own luck” was the reason I truly enjoyed the book, it made me feel like I can do this. The unique format of the book lets you follow Benjamin through his journey, real-time, and is just one of the reasons you want to keep turning the pages to find out what happens next. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is involved or interested in any level of real estate and to anyone who enjoys a real, feel-good success story.

A glimpse into the world of real estate that you might not be able to afford to miss By Shea Reardon Scott Benjamin's book, Riding the Bubble, is an excellent book for those of us interested in real estate and entrepreneurship. Personally, I found this fascinating as we read in real-time what Benjamin was thinking and feeling as he goes from having net worth under 200k to over 2M - all while "riding" the real-estate bubble of the 2000s. We learn how he uses multiple techniques to successfully flip single family homes, buy and rent college rental property, buy and rent commercial real estate, convert land from commercial to residential and eventually the development of an apartment deal seemingly too big for his company to carry at a time where banks were not loaning money. ALL while hearing the strains - personally, emotionally and financially of starting your own real-estate business.Haven worked in the industry at that time myself, I feel Benjamin put into words what many people were feeling (but perhaps forgot - or maybe chose to forget). I believe most of us interested in real estate (and entrepreneurship) would benefit from reading this book. For those of us with little experience, Benjamin makes it easy to understand the processes involved in his real estate ventures. For those with experience, it is a great reminder of how real estate can change so quickly and provides principles we can follow to help avoid being caught in a bad situation during a bubble in the future. For all of us, it is a real-time glimpse into how exciting real estate is.

And what do you usually en up doing? You end up giving the client a discount or simply lower your rate and devaluing yourself...

Most common advice you'll find is to figure out how much you want to make a year and divide it by number of hours you would work during a year, and voilá you your hourly rate. The thing is, there's a numerous way to determine what you could charge.

• There's different pricing structures and they all have their pros and cons. That's why I walk you through them all.
• By avoiding being a commodity, you'll separate yourself from every single freelancer out there. You want to go from a being freelancer to a becoming a professional, consultant or a business owner. You have to change your mindset.
• To separate yourself even more, you need to understand your clients and listen to their problems. Only then can you find a solution. You are a problem solver!
• Of course we'll talk about setting your hourly rate. It's a good place to start, but you do want to take it a step further. But it doesn't end there, because you probably have some existing clients and how do you raise your rate without burning some bridges.
• There also the need to justify your rate when a client is questioning it. And trust me when I say, never ever negotiate your rate.
• I'm sure you've been ask to do a job for free, because of no budgets, etc. And you know what, sometimes is OK to work for free, but only if it benefits you.
• Should you charge more for a rush job? Yes, cause your time is valuable. You don't want be working nights and weekends for pennies.

Straight to the point on how to price projects By Tom Siodlak Ken's book is a great introduction that should be mandatory for every freelancer to read before taking on clients. He breaks down pretty much every barrier I have had in my freelancing career in regards to pricing projects, raising your rates, and negotiating prices. Ken wrote one of the best value packed guides I have read in a long time. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book.

You will learn to price your freelance rates and projects more appropriately. Then build confidence in how you approach new clients. This is a skill that take time to perfect. This was an easy to read book, packed with great advice.
