By Killdebeest There are so many reasons not to buy this book: - The poor spelling and grammar indicate that this book was never seen by an editor, and indeed may not have been proofread by the author. - The images throughout the book are very low-resolution, are copy-pasted from various websites, and do little to enhance the text. - The actual lessons/insights from this book could have fit much better into a pamphlet format. Fluff obfuscates insight. - The majority of the positive reviews on this page ring of fraudulence. Look at some of the other reviews by these "reviewers": tell me they aren't auto-generated, or at least paid for by the author. - The print version of the book (which I bought) contains hyperlinks. Let me repeat: there are words printed on the paper that I am supposed to click on to pull up a web page.As I read the book (in its entirety, because I had to believe it might redeem itself...), my mind became increasingly occupied with trying to come up with the most accurate way of expressing my disappointment. This is what I settled on: If Mr. Hanley manages projects to the same standard that he managed the production of this book, then his is an example that I would rather not follow.

It offers an academic background on project management works overall. Moreover, it helps to manage my team successfully providing me with a deliberate process. I found something more important that enables me to run my project successfully. I recommend this book.

By Anna Feliz This book needs some improvement with regards to grammar and spelling but after reading the whole book, I can see the intention of the author. The book is written for a wide range of audience due to the way it is written. It did not focus solely on the subjective side of the topic but instead used a middle ground where the objective perspective of the topic was also taken into consideration. It is clear that this book is in need of some TLC from an editor but I like it enough to give it four stars because it contains the information you need to learn what a project manager is, the jobs under project management, and how you can classify a project from a routine.

Read All Eleven By A Customer Suffice it to say that I very much enjoyed reading all 11 of the ERB John Carter of Mars books as evidenced by my rating. That's right, eleven. I am not sure why two previous reviewers referred to a `trilogy'. There are, in fact, seven more volumes in the original series and an additional volume published posthumously from manuscripts obtained through Burroughs' estate. The remaining books, in order, are:4 Thuvia, Maid of Mars5 The Chessmen of Mars6 The Master Mind of Mars7 A Fighting man of Mars8 Swords of Mars9 Synthetic Men of Mars10 Llana of Gathol11 John Carter of Mars

23 of 24 people found the following review helpful. The Epic Trilogy Concludes By paul woods The Warlord of Mars is significant to ERB fans in that it concludes his original Martian Trilogy. The story itself is a step down from the adventure that is The Gods of Mars and fails to come close to the excellence of A Princess of Mars. That being said, this is still a fun story.Burroughs concludes his trilogy with a chase across Mars. The story picks up 6 months after The Gods of Mars. John Carter follows the kidnappers of his wife across river, desert, jungle, fortress and ice. The story itself is, as with all the Martian Trilogy, quite entertaining. However, this book cuts almost all the human interaction out that made the first two books the classics they are.I have read this book some ten times, and I still enjoy it. As I've grown older I have discovered many Sci Fi authors and stories, but none that enrapture my imagination like the original Martian Trilogy by Edgar Rice Burroughs. This is a must read for anyone who enjoyed the first two books, as it actually has a final conclusion.

John Carter fights across Barsoom for Dejah Thoris By Lawrance Bernabo Edgar Rice Burroughs did not intended to write a trilogy, but his 1914 pulp novel "The Warlord of Mars" completes the story begun in "A Princess of Mars" and continued in "The Gods of Mars" and finally brings John Carter and his beloved Dejah Thoris, Princess of Helium (i.e., no cliffhanger this time around, boys and girls). The story picks up six months after the conclusion of "The Gods of Mars," with our hero not knowing whether she is dead or alive in the Temple of the Sun of the Holy Therns where he last saw here with the blade of Phaidor was descending towards her heart as the evil Issus, queen of the First Born, had locked his mate in a cell that would not open for another year. However, it turns out that the exiled leader of the Therns has reached the trapped women to rescue his daughter and to seek revenge on Carter for exposing his evil cult.The focus of "The Warlord of Mars" is on Carter's relentless pursuit of the villainous Thurid who have taken his beloved princess from the south pole of Barsoom across rivers, desert, jungles, and ice to the forbidden lands of the north in the city of Kadabra where the combined armies of the green, red and black races attack the yellow tribes of the north, thereby justifying the book's title. It is interesting to note that Carter's heroics in this novel have the same sort of over the top implausibility we find in contemporary Hollywood blockbusters as ERB pours on the action sequences one on top of another. Whether he is scaling towers in the dark of night or surviving in a pit for over a week without food and water, John Carter is a manly hero in the great pulp fiction tradition of which ERB was an admitted master. Overall, the Martian series is Burrough's best work, avoiding the repetition that overwhelmed his Tarzan series and providing a lot more creativity (ever play Martian chess?). There is also, Dejah Thoris, one of the great names in science fiction history.

By Kendra Johnson Gordon is a great guy and any woman that has to take care of her own car or truck, needs to read this...it's a great gift too and not just for women! This book goes beyond the why and how and directly deals with the how. I particularly appreciated the chapter on Video Sales Letters. The outline for that was extremely valuable to me.I also appreciated the links to various resources (quite a few of them free) that the author referred to.The book has me excited to create some content! Excellent instruction here!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Passive Income Ideas continues to deliver By Michael Rose Honestly I'm still a newbie in the Passive Income (PI) game. Tom Crowl's first PI book clearly spelled out the basics and this second module continues in that vein. Getting more into the nuts and bolts of some of the tech aspects, Crowl manages to keep things easy for the neophyte yet doesn't leave out any necessary information. I'm really enjoying this Passive Income series and I'm looking forward to how all the modules will progress and play out.

Hansen Tom's second book on PI is packed, I mean really packed with good ideas and sound advice, from the client-centred orientation of trying to help the client, to solid practical advice on software, multi-media sources, "how to do it" and so on...A very worth while addition to the first book and a must read for all looking or involved in online work.

I can provide no explanation for the low ratings -- this is a marvelous biography By Robert Moore I truly cannot explain why so many are giving this book low ratings. It is a critically acclaimed, deeply researched, well written biography. Nearly every aspect of Hitchcock's life and art is discussed, ably and literately. The only thing that I can think is that some people are upset that the book also explores the more disturbing aspects of Hitchcock's life, primarily his increasing obsession in the fifties and sixties with his leading ladies. These are disturbing to read about, but the problem is not Spoto's. Hitchcock was, like many highly creative individuals, a very complex, many-sided individual. Not everything about him was admirable and his weird, disturbing fixations on some of his leading actresses, in particular Tippi Hedren, can not be blamed on Spoto. As a biographer, he would have been remiss in not reporting this aspects of Hitchcock's life.As far as claims that the book was dull or poorly written, this says more about specific reviewers than the book itself. I found it fascinating, a real page turner, and read through it in only a few days.I will temper my review by pointing out that this is only one of the three major biographies of Hitchcock that one wanting to know more about Hitchcock should consider reading. If you want a superb but shorter biography, you could consider John Russell Taylor's HITCH: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF ALFRED HITCHCOCK. If you are willing to read a biography much longer than Spoto's, you could consider Patrick McGilligan's outstanding ALFRED HITCHCOCK: A LIFE IN DARKNESS AND LIGHT. But the Spoto is definitely an elite biography, completely undeserving of the ill-considered low ratings some are giving this. It is meticulously researched, well-written, and hugely informative. This book will remain on the short list of the most crucial studies of the life and films of Alfred Hitchcock, and deservedly so.

A fascinating insight into the enigma By Webhed "Some of our most exquisite murders have been domestic, performed with tenderness in simple, homey places like the kitchen table."...and here is the Master of Suspense. While Hitchcock happens to be one of the better-known directors of the 20th century, he surely is the only master of enigma. Spoto has done an admirable job in depicting the life of a man always shrouded in mystery.The book follows Hitch from his childhood. A rather unattractive mother's boy, he was an outcast at public school. It continues his story from humble beginnings, through the discovery of genius, and ends at his death in 1980, at the age of 81. Throughout the pages, Spoto covers Hitchcock's life in detail, including his many quirks, obsessions bizarre sense of humour.Hitchcock's life was indeed bizarre - his personality and obsessions manifesting themselves in his over-eating and his dry, often macabre sense of humour. However, as the author rightly points out, the director also revealed this side of himself through the images of his movies. This makes a fascinating study once you have read the book and you'll never view Hitch's films at face value again.Because of her desire to protect her father's privacy, Hitch's daughter, Pat, refused Spoto any assistance in the writing of this book. He went instead to a veritable legion of actors and screenwriters who knew him and worked with him. The result is an extremely revealing and often very dark portrait of a man whose character was as shadowed as his films.But not all is dark and foreboding. There are several amusing anecdotes, which highlight Hitch's macabre sense of humour. Like the time he had a dummy made in his own likeness and sent it floating on its back down the Thames river as a publicity stunt for his movie "Frenzy" in 1972.My own personal favourite is the story of a woman who accosted him and complained that the "Psycho" shower scene so frightened her daughter that the girl would no longer shower. His laconic reply was, "Then, Madam, I suggest you have her dry cleaned."He also did not suffer actors gladly. While he did have his stable of favourites that he worked with, he once claimed that actors were cattle. Later he said, "I didn't say that actors are cattle - I said they should be treated as cattle." Another story says that when an actress asked Hitchcock if her right or left profile was better, he told her, "My dear, you're sitting on your best profile."Some of Spoto's claims I can't help but treat with a little scepticism. I do know that Hitch had a fascination with murder but the tender way in which he presents it in his films is classic Hitchcock. However, the author's statement that scenes in Hitch's movies reflect kind of voyeurism, I feel that with his trademark camera pans through windows, the director was trying to give the audience a bird's eye view of the scene - no more and no less. It is his way of allowing us to enter the private lives of his characters.When all is said and done, this is a fascinating book of a fascinating man. A genius in his own time, but also a frustrated enigma, with a taste for the truly macabre. I highly recommend this book to anyone remotely interested in learning about the man behind the mystery, although it is a little heavy at times.I'll leave the last word to the Master of Suspense himself:"Television has brought back murder into the home - where it belongs.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Interesting tedium By Kebmo Took a little time to get going but once it did I read the book in two days. Extremely well researched and insightful. Have always been a Hitch fan, but was never aware of what a disturbed and internalized individual he was. The depth of this portrayal of the subject is surprising. Typically, a story like this will delve into relationships in the subject's life but Hitchcock really didn't have any. The author does a nice job of explaining the probable reasons for this. I recommend this book to fans of Hitchcock the man because it goes a long way in explaining why he made the films he did. Not to be confused with a technical "anthology", it's more like a psychological analysis into the twists and turns of the inside of Hitchcock's head. He was a strange dude!
