About the Author Cash is President and CFO of PDS Tech, Inc., one of the largest engineering and IT staffing companies in the U.S., employing over 10,000 people per year. A licensed attorney in five states with a career spanning 30 years, Cash is a member of the Dallas, Los Angeles, Austin and American Bar Associations. He has published three four books: StagNation: Understanding the New Normal in Employment (CP 2013); A Texan in Tuscany (CNM Press 2013); BOOMERangs: Engaging the Aging Workforce in America (CP 2014) and Listening as a Martial Art: Master Your Listening Skills for Success (CNM Press, 2015). Cash is rated as a 3rd degree black belt in American Kenpo Karate and is a Russian Martial Art instructor.

By Career Author/Publisher/Journalist I was fortunate to get an advance copy of Nickerson's latest book before it appeared on Amazon. It's an easy read, chock full of useful tips and insights especially helpful for those starting careers. Read the author's bio to see why his POV deserves weight -- yet his writing style is down-to-earth. I like the many bullet points and real-life examples, like this one:"...Let’s examine some inventions and just see how much was disruption and what folks were doing at the time. How about starting with Albert Einstein?"Let’s see, Einstein couldn’t get a teaching job after graduation. His grades were average (4.91/6). His father wrote a letter on his behalf in 1901 to get him a position as a patent clerk, which failed. (It was a tough job market, just like today.) Finally an old university pal got him on as a patent clerk third class at Bern."How tough was life for a patent clerk? He and his wife had to give away their first child because they couldn’t afford her. He applied for a promotion in 1904 to patent clerk second class and didn’t get it. His boss at the time said he needed a better understanding of mechanical engineering before he could be promoted. When did he publish his paper on relativity containing E=MC^2? The answer: 1905. That is what Einstein accomplished while he worked a 'boring' job."

Not just for the young and ambitious:) By Liz S Disclaimer: Mother of 2 ambitious young persons (ages 26 and 29)I read "Getting To Next" more for these younger ones and (smiling) got so much out of this book personally that I'm a "wee bit" of a better person for it:)Cash Nickerson is obviously seriously accomplished but what comes across in this book is:1. Insiders perspective from the top of the pyramid2. BALANCED with a 30 plus year perspective on what is important to nurture and sustain a successful career(s) and satisfying relationships... these concepts being so inextricably linked (and clearly discussed) that following these insights is a mutual win-win.My faves: The value of day dreaming (without electronics nearby), Management vs Leadership and the "Monk Story."Thanks Senor Nickerson for a book well done!

Looking at life from a fresh standpoint By Ernest Auerbach Cash Nickerson's latest work, Getting to Next, contains essays which deliver useful and insightful observations to new college graduates, those in the work place, and those contemplating and in retirement. Mr. Nickerson has seen life from many vantage points and shares his experiences. Most interesting, he takes conventional topics and refashions them with a fresh vision. Reading this book may well be a revelation.
