Truncale I just started playing the harmonica about a month ago and I have purchased numerous other texts with songs including this one (Mel Bay's Harmonica Songbook by Bill Bay). I was satisfied with most of my purchases, and when I first looked at this songbook I was amazed at the number of songs it contained; however, my enthusiasm quickly faded after seeing that the vast majority of songs I had never heard of, and each song had no words to go along with the music sheets, which I think is important in learning how to play the harmonica. I have always loved all kinds of music and my brother and father were singers, but I had never heard the vast majority of songs in this collection.Even though this song book contains a wide variety of music such as western songs, ballads, gospel, Irish songs, songs of the sea, classics, international songs, folk songs and fun songs, I could not believe how very few I actually was familiar with or had heard in the past. Needless to say, out of all the harmonica books I have purchased lately, this one was the least helpful to me in playing the harmonica. 7 of 9 people found the following review helpful. The right tunes By Page Dropping by the music store for books or sheet music is no longer a snap. Very few stores remain to provide this service. I love being able to find what I need and even be able to check the index before buying. This book is exactly what I was looking for and with Amazon I didn't even have to leave the house.
