I had a very short time to prepare for a job interview. This book gave me enough information so that I sounded intelligent at my interview. Afterwards they gave me a project to work on. Thanks to the very well explained and thoughtfully laid out techniques laid out in this book I was able to handle the project I was given. I took this book with me after I was hired as sort of a security blanket. Now, not only do I use this book but the rest of the department does too. This is a very comprehensive book, literally covering every aspect of textile design that you will encounter in a textile design studio. The disk that comes with the book has practice images on it that go with the lessons in the book along with color charts for matching colors. Frederick writes in an organized and very understandable manner. This book is my security blanket. I highly recommend it.

By Roxanne I was hoping that this book would be easy to understand, and that the author would take me step by step in a way that I would be able to follow. That is exactly what this book does. Really thoughtful and thorough step by step guide, with personality and humour. Made it less dreary to learn, as some technical books are! It was written by a creative person, about a creative process, that requires technical knowledge, he gets you there without feeling like you just read a computer book. It's very much an artist knowing how to explain things to an artist!

The author, Frederick Chipkin, has written a book that clearly explains step by step how to design production ready textiles in Photoshop. Mr. Chipkin focuses on practical tips that would benefit anyone who is who is looking to expand their technical and artistic skill sets. He clearly has experience in the textile industry as he understands how to gear the program to specific projects one would need as a textile designer in today's job market.
