I have a Master's degree in Finance and have not worked one single day in that field in the past twenty years. I was drawn to author Tia Mitsis' timely book "When Study Goes Wrong" and found her story to be written with heart and eye-opening. Mitsis not only tells her own story of being educated to the nines yet being unable to secure relevant employment, but she also tells the stories of countless others who have had similar experiences. This is heart breaking in the way that so many young people are affected, yet there are some good lessons to be learned here as well. Great read.

I started reading about 57 pages in.That was rough to open your book with, perhaps you should consider an edit for subsequent editions? At a minimum move that stuff to the BACK.I did like reading the personal accounts, they are the reason I voted this book as 'ok'I am very sorry that you, and others, were unable to find work.However, my mind was screaming much of the time 'you forgot about the employers'. Where is the section on them? You forgot them, and their needs entirely - I think this oversight is part of the reason why you haven't found success in your job hunt.How do employers feel when looking for a new hire? What is the process like from their side? Who do they eventually hire and why?Want a job as a lawyer? Start by figuring out the answers to these questions. Figure out how to attract clients and bring your own clients with you, prove that you can bring in the business.Door knock on every legal professionals door, get to know them - you should, at a minimum, know the name of every working legal professional within a 50km radius of your home. They should know yours.This is great for 2 reasons, you will be offered jobs that aren't advertised and you will be able to avoid working for buttholyoes.I felt sad when I read your words of advice about how to find work through linkedin and social media, in this market you need to stand out, these vehicles are not as powerful as you showing up to meet your new lawyer friends in person.You can still get a job as a legal professional, just change tactics and try again.Get some cheerleaders to build you up for your face to face and admittedly scary job search. Get them to build you up before each day of door knocking, practice your introductory script on them until it is natural and easy and you could do it in your sleep.Never, never, never give up.
