Good introduction and/or refresher By Jochen Helly This is a short introduction to quantitative analysis and its main methodologies and tools.Few thoughts:- Good introduction or refresher on normal distribution and other types of distribution (e.g. Cauchy)- Simple hands-on tools to apply quantitative analysis (statistical bin analysis, linear regression, Monte Carlo analysis)- Clear language, clear examples- List of pitfalls due to “sloppy statistics”- humble attitude - the author knows how to simplify things and express the essence of the problem, without ever sounding like a know-it-all- contains anything you need – not more and not less – to get going in quantifying a trading approachThe book is downloadable in pdf for free from the author’s blog and is part of what was discarded by the editor from his excellent first book http://www.amazon.com/Art-Science-Technical-Analysis-Strategies/dp/1118115120/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431589246&sr=8-1&keywords=the+art+and+science+of+technical+analysis
4 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Recommended for day-traders who have zero statistical knowledge By PiKay Mindbogglingly basic! There is absolutely zero quantitative analysis on this book. Zero. He simply explains what statistical measures such as mean and standard deviation are, how to use them at the most very basic level, what a lineal regression is and how to interpret coefficient results (eg, b=slope!), what significance testing is, and then he dares to mention there is something called Monte Carlo, used for simulations.Book is well written.Highly recommended for day-traders who have zero statistical knowledge. If that is you, ignore my review and pick it up. Its free.
